POVERTY ALLEVIATION PROJECT,
Name: Poverty Alleviation Project, Nyando District
Commissioned in: April 2002.
Location: Nyando(Nyakach), Maseno (Kisumu) .
Targets:

.Construction of 107 ferrocement tanks.
.640 community members will also benefit.
.PHAST training.

Establishment of health clubs in schools.

Expected completion date: April 2003.
WATSAN FOCUSED URBAN POVERTY PROJECT
Name: Kisumu peri-urban project.
Commissioned in: June 2002
Location: Kogony and Manyatta B in Kisumu Municipality
Targets: Construction of 2 boreholes with gravity pump.
Construction of 123 sanitation facilities.
Structural improvements in 2 primary schools
3000 community members with access to safe ...water.
PHAST Training of schools and communities.
School health clubs formed and trained on PHAST.
Replication by communities of sanitation facilities.
Donor French Government
Expected to be completed in May 2003.
SIMAVI
Commissioned in: August 2001.
Location: Kadibo division.
Targets: Facilities to serve 7 schools with estimated 2450 ...pupils.
3500 community members will also benefit.
Upgrading 2 boreholes, 4 wellsand, 1 hand drill, buy 50 ...preasure pumps to pump water into a storage tank for ...gravity system to the community
Construction of 37 latrines.

Expected to be completed in November 2002.
BANDANI FLOOD INTERVENTION PROJECT
Project: Bandani flood intervention project.
Commissioned in: July 2002.
Location: Bandani slams of Kisumu city.Population estimated at 6000 people.
Targets: .Disinfected 30 wells
.Rehabilitated 10 wells/springs
.Improve and upgrade 50 pit latrines.
.Length of drainage cleaned and cleared.
.Construct 10 foot bridges
.Supply drugs and bed nets.
.To conduct PHAST training in five clusters.
Donor ROYAL NETHERLANDS EMBASSY PROJECT
Expected to be completed in December 2002.

Project: Kachieng water pans.
Commissioned in: October 2002.
Location: Karungu division.Population estimated at 11530 people.
Targets: Construction of 4 water pans with storage capacity of ...10,000 cubic metres.
Construction of 4 intake structures.
Construction of 4 infiltration galleries.
Construction of 4 shallow wells for domestic water.
Construction of 4 cattle troughs for 25,000 livestock.
Construction of 20 sanitation facilities.
PHAST training.

WELLS UPGRADING
Project: Technical Support for Wells Upgrading
Commissioned in: 7th March 2003
Location: Kusa, Nyakach Division, Nyando District
Targets: Upgrading ten (10) wells.
